cybersecurity in engineering: engaging presentations and practical insights

connected production, new regulatory requirements, and practical risk management: at our event on cybersecurity in mechanical engineering, we took a look at current challenges and concrete solutions together with our guests.
the focus was not just on identifying existing threats, but on how companies can recognize, assess, and manage these risks with appropriate measures. the networking of machines, systems, it, and iot systems creates new opportunities – but also new entry points for cyberattacks. this makes it even more important to take a holistic view of your own environment and identify potential vulnerabilities at an early stage.
nis2 directive, the implementing regulation and the cyber resilience act bring tough requirements: the key is not just knowing which regulations apply, but also understanding what they mean for your own organization, products, and processes.
but what does practical risk management actually look like?
using the example of hands-on risk management at mrm², participants gained insights into practical implementation. In addition, our colleagues from WAGO showed how security consulting can help analyze individual challenges and develop suitable solutions. it became clear that there is no one-size-fits-all security solution. the specific risks, framework conditions, and requirements must be understood individually in order to derive appropriate measures.
in addition to the expert presentations, personal interaction was a key part of the afternoon. the discussions and questions from the field once again highlighted the diverse challenges of cybersecurity in mechanical engineering.
rrom the technical protection of connected production environments and regulatory requirements to individual risk management: cybersecurity is a task that brings different areas together and should be considered from the very beginning.
our conclusion: a successful afternoon with many exciting ideas, practical insights, and interesting conversations. many thanks to the team at WAGO!
